Last Mother's Day,
I had no idea what was
I had no idea what it would feel like
to walk them out of an orphanage
and carry them home.
I didn't know that last summer,
I didn't know
that you can catch glimpses of Heaven
right here on earth.
I didn't understand the promise of
Hope and a Future...
Hope and a Future...
He adopted me last year,
right around Mother's Day.
And I was born again.
I was claimed by My Father,
and given the keys to His House.
So, this Mother's Day, I ask you...
Thank you, Father,
for choosing me;
Your waiting child.
Your waiting child.
This was beautiful. We said "yes" to, and it has made every bit of difference in my life. Happy Mother's Day!

Your blog is amazing!! Brings tears to my eyes as our family anticipates our own adoption journey. Just wondering if we could reach out to you as an information source. We are thinking about moving forward with International Adoption Guides and just wanted some feedback on the agency and the Ethiopian adoption process. If you have time can you email me at vickibruening@yahoo.com. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteVicki, I know that you and I have spoken privately about this question, but I wanted to go ahead and answer the question here for others who may be asking about IAG. I have hesitated to put any of this on my blog NOT from fear, but because this blog is my children's story and has no room for anything concerning these people and the pain they put us through.
ReplyDeleteI do NOT recommend International Adoption Guides aka IAG to anyone, for any reason, ever. My experience with them can only be described as horrific. We ended up needing to hire an attorney (Kelly Ensslin, kelly@ktelaw.com) and a private investigator (Bitsay, bitsay21@yahoo.com) to complete our adoption, and we experienced what I can only describe as emotional abuse while we were in contract with IAG.
I should have looked closer at the repeated negative reviews and ratings for this agency, and researched the histories of the people who run this agency a little better before we signed up with them.
I can tell you from my direct experience that they have a terrible reputation with the US Embassy in Ethiopia, which is not a good thing, since the Embassy is who will ultimately approve or deny any Ethiopian adoption.
IAG also operates as a surrogacy agency with anti-adoption language on their website, http://www.surrogacypartners.com/news.html
I praise God every day for the cover of protection He placed over our family in dealing with these people. He was our boat in the storm.
I would be happy to speak with anyone privately who wants more information about my experience. My email is MRoepnack@gmail.com
God Bless each and every ONE of you who are considering adoption and choosing your agency carefully. I have learned in retrospect that we, as adoptive parents, have the greatest responsibility and the most power to demand ethical and transparent adoptions. We can be the change. Support the good agencies, no matter how long you have to wait on that list.
